Report of a Second Allegation
Statement of Dr. George J. Marklin
(retired from working as a Research Scientist at the University of Washington)

This concerns an event I witnessed at an Objectivist conference in the late 1980s, to the best of my recollection it was at the 1988 Staten Island conference.  It occurred early in the conference, in the cafeteria where all meals were served.

The conference attendees were seated at a number of separate tables, several people to a table.  I was at a table with several guys I did not know.  I observed a young woman visiting other tables and speaking to the people seated.  Eventually she came to our table.  She told us that she had gone to visit Objectivist Dr. John Ridpath and he had raped her.  I don’t recall if she mentioned going to the police.  She spoke with a heavy accent that may have been French but I can’t be certain.  She was very nervous and left shortly after talking to us.  I never saw her again.  I don’t recall her giving her name.  I have a vague recollection of her being a slim brunette in her 20s but I would not be able to identify her from a photograph.

The young woman mentioned in Dr. Marklin’s statement is not Catherine Farrar (see OTIPOJ) for a number of reasons:1. Catherine told me she never attended an Objectivist conference after the Thomas Jefferson School conference of 1987 (where she met Ridpath).2. Catherine was born and raised in California.  She does not speak with a foreign accent.3. Assuming that what Dr. Marklin describes occurred at Northrup Buechner’s 1988 Objectivist conference, I was briefly at that conference and Catherine was not there.  Furthermore, while at the conference I phoned her at home (to discuss Ridpath approaching me and claiming that Catherine was dishonest and deranged) and she was there.4. In 1988 Catherine was 30 or 31 years old.5. After Dr. Marklin told me about his experience I asked Catherine if she was the woman mentioned and she said she was not.
